How it works.

  1. Hinged along the top.

It's built the same way as our casements, but it opens from the bottom.

  2. Crank it out at the bottom.

The bottom swings out and the top stays put, so the sash works like a small roof.

  3. Leave it open in the rain.

Rain runs down the glass and away from the opening, so you don't have to run around closing it in a shower.

  4. From outside.

We fit the trim to your house, whether it's siding, brick, shake or stone.

What's in the window.

Your furnace's heat hits the coating and bounces back into the room.

Awning window in a home

Where it works best.

  • Bathrooms

Set high for privacy, and it can vent steam even in the rain.

  • Basements

Short, wide openings near the ceiling are a natural fit.

  • Under a picture window

Keeps the view and adds a band of fresh air below.

  • Over a tub

Ventilation without opening a whole wall of glass.

Awning questions.

Can I really leave it open when it rains?

In ordinary rain, yes. The open sash sheds water away from the opening. Close it in wind-driven storms.

Is it good for a bathroom?

It's one of the best choices. It can sit high on the wall for privacy and still vent steam.

Can it go under a picture window?

Yes, that's a common pairing. You get the view above and air below.

Does it use the same glass as your other windows?

Yes: Low-E glass with argon fill, Energy Star certified.
